BELLUS BARN

Welcome to The Bellus Barn, a glass design and studio practice operating from a restored 1927 apple barn in Ashfield, Massachusetts. Founded by partners Josie Gluck and Michael Schunke, this historic space is home to our daily lives, our individual creative studios, and our collaborative workshop. Under this single roof, we design and create Vetro Vero—our signature line of luxury blown glass home decor; provide custom fabrication for global architects and designers; collaborate on commissions, pursue individual creative projects; and host specialized glassblowing masterclasses.

THE HOT SHOP

The Foundation: Located on the ground floor, the hotshop is the industrial heartbeat of the barn. Housed within this original foundation are our two glass-melting furnaces, glory holes, annealing ovens, and a dedicated cold-working shop. This focused glassmaking space is where we produce Vetro Vero designs, fulfill custom fabrication contracts, pursue individual glass projects, and periodically teach specialized intensives.

THE MEZZANINE

Studios & Exhibition Space: Suspended directly above the production floor, the mezzanine connects our creative process to finished objects. This level houses our individual studios and our showroom. Overlooking the hotshop, the mezzanine allows clients and visitors to observe live glassblowing and the curated collections.

THE RESIDENCE

The historic hay loft now serves as our private living quarters. This light-filled sanctuary offers a quiet break from the heat and activity of the furnace floor, allowing us to step seamlessly from the day's production back into our shared home life.
